Short Stories

Over the course of seven years, Robert R. McCammon wrote more than 20 short stories in addition to his novels. The book Blue World collected many of these stories, but several remain uncollected. Some of them can be found below.

Winner of the 1989 Bram Stoker Award for Best Short Story.

“Black Boots”
Uncollected short story that originally appeared in the anthology Razored Saddles in August 1989.
“The Night I Killed the King”
Unfinished short story.
A contest was held to let Lights Out! subscribers finish the story. The entries were judged by McCammon himself. The winning conclusion was written by Paul Schulz, who received an original McCammon manuscript as the prize. Samples from the other conclusions were selected by McCammon.
“The Deep End”
Winner of the 1988 Bram Stoker Award for Best Short Story.
