Seven Shades of Evil, Stinger, Swan Song  Comments Off on It’s been a while….

Hello!

It’s been a while since the last update, but that doesn’t mean nothing’s going on!

Mr. McCammon recently completed Seven Shades of Evil, the next book in the Matthew Corbett series, which is a collection of short stories set in Matthew’s world. Some have been previously published, but four of the stories are brand-new, including one that’s over 100 manuscript-pages long. It’s too early to say anything about when it might be published, but I hope to have that information in the next couple of months.

Also from the I-can’t-talk-about-it-yet department, if all goes according to plan, there will be several McCammon re-releases this year. One of those is a new trade paperback edition of Swan Song from S&S Saga, which will be released on April 4, 2023. This edition includes a new afterword by Robert McCammon. It can be pre-ordered from Amazon US, Amazon UK, BookDepository, B&N, BAM!, and other retailers.

There are also several planned international editions this year, including Polish and French translations of Swan Song, a Czech translation of Boy’s Life this month, Polish translations of Usher’s Passing, The Queen of Bedlam, and The Listener, and a German translation of Freedom of the Mask in April!

I’ve heard no more about the Peacock series inspired by Stinger, but if/when I do, I’ll let you know! If you missed that news, Peacock placed a straight-to-series order for the project being produced by James Wan and written by Ian McCulloch. The series is “inspired” by Stinger, so I wouldn’t hold my breath about it being a faithful adaptation of the novel. But we’ll see….

From the Not-That-Robert-McCammon Department, there’s a new book out called Walter Johnson Had No Idea: A Life with Baseball that is written by another man named Robert McCammon. That book is not written by the author of Speaks the Nightbird, Boy’s Life, etc.

More information when I have it! Until then, I hope your 2023 is going well! Mine is, but I’m also trying to figure out how it’s already the middle of February….

The Hollywood Reporter has a new article about the potential Peacock series based on Robert McCammon’s Stinger. This is the first public mention of the series since it was first mentioned by The Hollywood Reporter back in March. About the only new info is that they say the project has received a “straight-to-series” order.

The Hollywood Reporter: James Wan Adapting Horror Thriller ‘Stinger’ as Peacock Series

The Hollywood Reporter has posted an exclusive (until every other site steals it and reposts it) report that James Wan is adapting Robert McCammon’s Stinger for the Peacock streaming service. From the report: “‘Teacup’ will be based on the book by Robert McCammon with ‘Yellowstone’s’ Ian McCulloch set to pen the script.”

You can read the article on the website for The Hollywood Reporter.

New Russian edition of Stinger coming soon

Russian publisher Azbooka has released the cover art for their upcoming translation of Stinger. This will be the seventh time Stinger has been published in Russia.

I have not seen a release date yet, but I expect the book will be published by May 2022, based on their previous releases.

Azbooka released Boy’s Life, Swan Song, The Listener, Speaks the Nightbird, and The Border in 2021. Their translation of The Queen of Bedlam will be released at the end of January 2022. They currently also hold the translation rights to They Thirst and Mister Slaughter. Azbooka had previously announced that They Thirst will also be published in 2022.

Posted by Tony Thomas in the Facebook Robert McCammon Group:

I am sad to report that Rowena Morrill has died. She painted the covers for six of Robert McCammon’s paperbacks for Pocket Books in the 1980s. Last evening, Rowena suffered a series of cardiac arrests and passed away. Rowena Morrill 1944–2021.

Audible will release the audiobook edition of The Listener on the book’s publication date, February 27, 2018.

The week before that, on February 20, Audible will release audiobook editions of StingerMystery Walk, and Usher’s Passing. On March 28, they will release the audiobook edition of MINE. When that is published, there will be audiobook editions of every Robert McCammon title!

I’m still awaiting details and pre-order links, but Nick Sullivan is narrating Stinger and Mystery Walk. He tweeted this on January 4, 2018, in reply to a post about a Mystery Walk ebook sale:
